About

Amanda B. Buchholz writes from The City of Fountains.  Her work has been published by Ms.com, The Progressive (progressive.org), The Call and Missouri-NOW.org.  Her writing spans genres to include social, cultural, and political commentary, essays and memoir, and poetry.  She is also a gifted lyricist and songwriter who creates Americana and Country music that focuses on giving voice to women’s historical narratives, as well as bringing to light the modern female’s side of the story.  A native Kansan who has called the Missouri side home for years, she is an advocate for social justice with a focus on women’s rights, and still believes that each person has the capacity to change the world.  She has served as Vice President of Missouri NOW and as President of The Kansas City, Missouri Chapter of the National Organization for Women.  When she isn’t writing, Amanda spends her time practicing yoga, sewing, reading voraciously and cuddling up with her beloved Golden Retriever mix, Phoebe.  She volunteers in her community regularly, laughs often, and loves taking in the sights and sounds of the City–including great art, thought-provoking lectures, and live, local music.  Amanda previously lived in Los Angeles, California and can still smell the ocean on clear, sunny days.
